About RoadLegal
Your car's paperwork, on autopilot.
RoadLegal keeps track of the dates that keep your car legal on the road — registration, emissions, insurance and your driver's license — and tells you about them while there's still time. No jargon, no scare tactics, nothing to pay for to use the basics.
How it works
1. Add your vehicle
Your plate, your county, and the month your registration sticker expires. That's most of it — the VIN is optional.
2. We work out your dates
Registration renewal, emissions inspection if your county requires it, your driver's license, and your insurance expiry — each with the actual date, not an estimate.
3. We remind you in time
A nudge 30 days, 7 days and 1 day before each date, and again if it passes. Every reminder says what it is, what it costs if you miss it, and where to do it.
Texas first
RoadLegal is built for Texas, and it knows the difference between Texas counties. Emissions inspection is required in 17 of them — Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis, Williamson and El Paso — and Bexar County (San Antonio) joins them on November 1, 2026. So if your county needs an emissions test you'll see that deadline, and if it doesn't, we won't invent one. Rules are kept as data, which is how we'll add other states later without changing how the app behaves.
Everything we show you comes from public Texas rules, and we link you to the official source for each one so you can check for yourself. Always confirm your exact dates and requirements with the official Texas DMV and DPS websites — they are the final word, not us.
Your privacy
- Your documents live in private storage. Only your account can open them.
- When you view a file, the link we create stops working after 60 seconds. Nothing sits on a public web address.
- We never ask for your toll account login, your Social Security number, or your driver's license number.
- We don't sell your data or send you advertising. If you delete your account, your documents go with it.
What we're not
RoadLegal is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
We're a reminder tool. We can tell you what a rule says and when it's due, but we can't interpret it for your situation, argue a ticket for you, or know about a change the state made yesterday. For anything that affects your record, your insurance claim, or a court date, talk to the agency that issued it or to a lawyer.
